"Gentle wild was one of the first few paintings I did in this style. During a time when bittersweet partings and beginnings seemed to surround me in all directions, the most important door I had to close was the one leading to versions of my past self I no longer wanted to carry with me. Feeling the gravity of grief and hints of hope all at once in my body, I painted this with my bare hands at first, only later using a brush to refine."
